The bill that was anticipated to be passed this year looks as if it will be placed underneath the bureaucratic B.S. that is the Albany Senate. I am sure that Senators fighting to keep this sport banned in NY are using their time wisely to put together an even stronger argument. An argument that will be filled with fluff, similar to that found in a "Twinkie," light and fluffy but nothing really solid. It is not expected that this bill would make its way to the top of the Senates list until early 2010.
Anderson Silva did not perform in the manner that UFC President Dana White would have liked. He did not attack a weaker foe much like a lion would attack a gazelle. He did not smell the blood like a shark and attack at all cost. No in fact, Silva acted like an artist and has received nothing short of boos and criticism from fans and UFC officials. It is that mentality that is keeping MMA banned in many of the states. It is not Silva's fault that his opponent did not want to fight and every attack Silva attempted resulted in his jumping to his back on the mat.

As leaders in Albany struggle to deal with the state’s fiscal problems, they should think outside the box and inside the Octagon.
Last April, I fought Georges St. Pierre in a rematch of the Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight title match. Our sport is banned in New York, and this fight [UFC 83] was held in Montreal, St. Pierre’s hometown. The sold-out crowd of 21,000 was less than welcoming - everywhere I went that weekend, I heard jeers and boos. When I eventually lost the match, the cheers for my opponent were deafening.
On Friday, the bill in the South Carolina State Legislature for the lifting of the state’s MMA ban hit the house floor, and was passed Unanimously in a strong 57-0 fashion. Thanks to everywhere involved in signing our online petition for South Carolina as I am sure it helped.
AM4MMA will continue to monitor the progress MMA is making in South Carolina and will keep everyone posted.
Matt Hamill has signed a new 6 fight deal with the UFC. According to sources Matt is scheduled to face undefeated WEC standout Mark Munoz. Munoz is a 2001 Division 1 NCAA National champ. This fight is scheduled to take place in front of Hamill's childhood neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio on March 7th.
AM4MMA would like to extend a personal and warm invite to Assemblyman Bob Reilly out of the 109th District to visit Utica, NY. In visiting Utica, AM4MMA would like to sit and discuss the sport of MMA. AM4MMA would also like to introduce Assemblyman Bob Reilly to UFC star and deaf athlete Matt "The Hammer" Hamill. AM4MMA believes that Matt's life story and how the sport of MMA has affected him so positively is so touching that Assemblyman Bob Reilly could begin to see the other side to the preconceived demon MMA.
AM4MMA will be sending an invite to Assemblyman Bob Reilly's email and will keep everyone posted thru this site, so check back often to catch the updates.
With Governor Patterson announcing a 52 million dollar cut in the NY State budget, AM4MMA believes this will lead to the LEGALIZATION of MMA in New York State. In a state where gas has dropped to just over 2 bucks a gallon and yet that will still be too much with the unemployment rate rising, the state needs help. What better salvation then Legalizing a sport that draws millions upon millions to the local economy. AM4MMA believes that a poor economy will aid in getting MMA to its ultimate goal of having an event in Madison Square Garden.
AM4MMA is proud to introduce Anthony "Slim Assassin" Criscione to the site. Anthony is 12 years old and a huge MMA fan. He will be writing a review of all MMA fights and will be using the following grading system:
KO=WOW, what a fight, very exciting, missed nothing, WORTH SEEING AGAIN.
TKO=Almost there, but lacking something, not sure what.
Rear Naked Choke=Clever attempt, had potential but lacking a lot.
Split Decision=Very weak attempt at MMA
Tapout= So boring I really could not take anymore, so I tapped out.
Please check back often to see MMA through youthful eyes.
The much anticipated fight between UFC Legend Ken Shamrock didn't take place due to a pre-fight injury. The injury to Shamrock resulted in 6-7 stitches to his eye. The athletic commission prevented Shamrock from fighting against Slice.
However, what took place instead was not a surprise to AM4MMA. Kimbo accepted a fight with an ex season 2 TUF alum on short notice and was tremendously embarrassed in front of his Florida fans. The fight was stopped in 14 seconds of the first round.
If Kimbo struggled through this fight, how would he really have faired against Legendary fighter Ken Shamrock?
KJ Noons has been stripped of his EliteXC lightweight title. The announcement was confirmed by EliteXC Head of Fight Operations, Jeremy Lappen.
The main reason EliteXC took this action, was due to Noons’ reluctance to defend his belt against leading 160-pound contender Nick Diaz.
